Annual Global Discovery to Development Innovation Forum Speakers
Jo Varshney, DVM
Founder & CEO
Dr. Varshney’s research and development expertise are diverse, and encompasses physiology and medicine (DVM), computational biology and machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) (PhD). She has been in the drug development space for 10+ years; during her PhD training, she identified and developed a targeted small molecule against Osteosarcoma that is currently in a Phase II trial, and later served as a Scientist at Genentech working on understanding the mechanisms of toxicities induced by antibody drug conjugates. She has demonstrated publication history in the form of both peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on cancer therapeutics. Additionally, she sits on advisory boards as a Scientific/Technical advisor at CounteractIO, SVAI, and Enveda Therapeutics who are using machine learning to forecast colon cancer, enable computational health care, and develop plant-based therapeutics, respectively. She also led the winning team from NF2 Research Hackathon organized by Google. In her current role as Founder and CEO of VeriSIM Life, she built the first version of now-productized in silico platform that integrates a mechanistic understanding of organ function and in vivo experimental PK datasets with ML/AI to predict outcomes in a time and cost-effective manner, with the goal of reducing adverse reactions and death in patients.
